 Factors In On-Page SEO

It's hard work writing articles on blogs but can not appear in search engines. Been struggling to hunt backlinks but not yet enter page 1? Perhaps the problem is on the on-page SEO of your web page.

For those who do not understand, I explain a bit about on-page SEO. In general, #SEO is divided into two, ie on-page and off-page. Off-page SEO means we optimize outside our own website for example by looking for backlinks.

On-page SEO is the opposite of off-page, we optimize from within our own website. Many people often forget the SEO on-page SEO factors. As a result no matter how links are built, the website has not also entered page # 1 Google.

For those of you who experience this, please check back the articles on your blog based on the following 7 lists.

1. Page Title and Article Title

The page title is one of the main keys of on-page SEO. Usually when we do a search on Google, the page title is displayed with a large size of blue. This shows the importance of the page title.

Usually the page title is the same as the title of the article. But for WordPress users, page titles with article titles can be distinguished with the help of WordPress SEO plugin or All-in-one SEO Pack.

Distinguishing page titles with article titles can sometimes help SEO because we can optimize the page title with certain keywords without changing the title of the article to remain readable.

2. Meta Description

Meta description is a few words or phrases that appear under the page title in Google search results. With the SEO plugin I mentioned above, we can change the meta description for each article so that we can target the keywords we want.

In addition to the interests of SEO, writing a good meta description can also help people who do search in search engines. By writing a meta description, Google users will be able to read important points of our website pages in search engines.

3. URL

Make sure the keywords that we target also appear in the URL and no writing errors. For WordPress users, the format of the URL can be set through the Settings menu> Permalink. In addition URLs can also be changed manually every time we edit the article. For SEO interests, shorter URLs are better.

4. Content Optimization

Three factors above each important to support SEO, but the most important is the content. There are two main types of errors of content optimization. The first is less optimized, the second is precisely the excessive optimization.

For the first mistake, less optimization, there are usually several causes. For example, the article is too short to be considered important by #Google. Good articles usually have 500 words, at a minimum. In addition, our articles may not contain targeted keywords.

The second mistake, too much optimization, is often done by Indonesian bloggers. The most common is mostly using targeted keywords. So many, to the extent that the article is not good anymore to read because the sentences are forced. Coupled with 'ornaments' such as bold, italic, and understrike.

If we look back on 2009-2010 years, such excessive optimizations may still have a positive impact. But given Google's increasingly sophisticated algorithm, excessive optimization will actually degrade the quality of the website.

As I write on my website, good articles are written by humans for humans, not search engines. In addition to SEO, writing a good article and also certainly provide a positive impact for blog readers.

5. Pictures and Other Media

A lot of debate about the image, whether it is influential for SEO or not. What is clear, images and other media such as video is important for the blog so as not monotonous.

Like articles, images can also be overoptimized. For example by using the keyword as the title image + alternative tags. To be safe, give the title according to the drawing and use alternative tags to describe the image briefly.

6. Internal Link

Internal links can help the website structure to be more SEO-friendly. What is meant by internal links are links between each relevant article in one website. For example in article A we discuss a bit about article B. Give a link from article A to article B, things like this can have a positive impact for SEO.

Avoid doing internal links if the article is not relevant at all, do it naturally. Do not also link to the same page. Besides useless, it can also annoy the reader. The 'categories' and 'tags' features of the WordPress platform should also be used to build a solid blog structure.

7. Time Loading Website

Google loves websites with short loading times. They themselves have stated that search results also prioritize a fast website. There are several factors that determine the length of loading time.

A. Page size: Affected by design, script, image, and other media. Reduce the use of images and scripts such as Java Script let alone Flash to speed up website loading. The selection of blog templates should also be lightweight.

B. Hosting services: For those blogs that host it on Web 2.0 like Blogspot, WordPress.com, Tumblr, or the like, this does not matter. But for those who use self-service hosting, you should use quality hosting.

Those are the 7 things I always check every time I publish new articles on my blog. Have your articles optimized for on-page SEO?
