Hashirama Senju is well known in Konoha and other shinobi villages as a Shinobi deity because of its unmatched power. He and Madara were the strongest shinobi for decades. 

Although throughout his life he was still not able to realize world peace as he wanted, but he had succeeded in instilling a spirit of peace for future generations. 

As Hashirama's eternal rival, Madara admitted that Hashirama was the only shinobi who could defeat him, even with the power of Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan and even Kyuubi powers, he was unable to defeat Hashirama during his lifetime.

Hashirama is a talented shinobi who inherits Ashura's chakra and controls five basic elements as well as Yin and Yang elements. Throughout history, only Hashirama was born with natural wood elements which are a combination of soil and water elements. anoboy boku no hero

This ability is very important for Konoha to seal the Kyubi possessed by Konoha. However, because of this ability it was very rare because no one was born to have this talent after him, so Konoha tried hard to make a Hashirama replica through a genetic project. 

Another strength that was also revealed was that Hashirama also had senjutsu abilities which enabled him to strengthen himself and his jutsu by utilizing natural chakra, with this Hashirama could control the Bijuu by himself.

But one of the abilities that Madara admired most was absolute healing ability, where Hashirama was able to heal himself from any injury in a short time without the need to cast a hand seal or issue a jutsu.

Then how could the powerful shinobi Hashirama die?

Dead because of the fight against Kakuzu

The peace that Hashirama fought for so far began to fade along with his stamina which began to diminish due to age. Taking the opportunity, Takigakure sent Kakuzu to kill him. 

Even so according to the story I had read, Kakuzu only managed to hurt Hashirama and then left because of Tobirama's arrival. There was no explanation that Hashirama died as a result of the fight. Moreover Hashirama has absolute self-healing ability.

Dead Because of Injuries Against Madara

The second theory was that Hashirama died after decades of holding back the wounds he had received from the battle against Madara in the final valley which was incurable by his own healing abilities. 

This wound continued to gnaw his body for several decades, considering he still had time to spoil Tsunade and pursue him gambling. This theory is quite reasonable because the injuries given by Madara must have been different from the wounds Kakuzu gave so that it was beyond the limits of Hashirama's self-healing ability. 

Masashi Kisimoto himself never explained clearly how the death of Hashirama's death was. But somehow when he was edited by Orochimaru, he looked younger like he died shortly after his battle with Madara.
